about me.

The official line might look something like this:

Kelly never expected to call the small town of Gainesville, GA home, but after living in nine states and travelling to more than 30 countries, she’s ended up right there.  After graduating from college in 2002 and working in youth ministry for six years, she set out on the adventure of a lifetime.  She visited 18 countries in a year on the World Race, an 11-month mission trip where teams spend one month serving in each of 11 different countries.  She experienced the Lord in completely new ways and learned so much about living in community that she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go on staff where she spent 3 years overseeing all high school and college individual trips for Adventures in Missions (the parent organization of the World Race.)  She got to combine her experience with students and her passion for the nations, making that job a great fit.

She is currently working for Cross Current Ministries, developing opportunities for missions, worship, and creativity to intersect and collide to bring Kingdom here on earth.

She has travelled across the US speaking to groups as small as a handful and as large as 2,000 and loves to share her experiences of travel (36 hour bus rides make for great material!), ministry (God called Rose’s name in China), and revelation (God has a specific word for you!).

She is a dreamer and creator and loves making music and putting her pen to paper.  She is passionate about helping people unlock their voice and creativity, to discover the value in what they have to say and the courage to release it.  Her one vice would be diet coke, but she maintains she can quit at anytime.

But if you asked me, I’d tell you:

I like to make things, say things, write things, rhyme things, sing things, shout things, stomp things.  I like for things to be beautiful and imperfect.  And the more mismatched and “wrong” something is, the more I like it.

I love birdcages and stars and twinkle lights.  Glass bottles, mason jars, bicycles, journals, handwriting, sharpie pens and typewriters.  I want to unleash beauty and creativity everywhere around me.  And I believe that somehow, releasing beauty back into the earth makes this place look a little more like heaven.

Oh, and that diet coke part?  Anytime I want.
